The Master Architect Society
The Master Architect Society (“MAS”) was established in order to recognize the generosity of those who have remembered the Maine Masonic Charitable Foundation in their estate plans through a bequest in their will or through another form of planned gift.
WHAT IS PLANNED GIVING?
Planned giving plays a crucial role in sustaining the Foundation. Quite simply, PLANNED GIVING is putting a plan in place to leave a gift to the Foundation after you have passed away. There are multiple ways to give and many different assets you can use. From something you can do without a lawyer, such as instructing your bank to make the Foundation a beneficiary on one of your bank or retirement accounts or your life insurance policy to more complex arrangements such as formal bequests in your will or setting up a tribute or memorial gift, we welcome the opportunity to assist you and your advisors in planning a contribution that suits your particular needs. Your gift directly supports Maine Masonic philanthropy, and you have options in directing your donation. For instance, you may choose to have your gift used for relief and/or matching grant needs immediately, or perhaps you would prefer to have your donation added to our endowment, thus generating investment income that will be used to support the continuing philanthropic efforts of Freemasons in Maine.
For anyone who wishes to give, we encourage you to become a member of THE MASTER ARCHITECT SOCIETY. It is quite simple, just make the Foundation a beneficiary of one or more of your bank accounts, name the Foundation as a beneficiary of a percent of your life insurance policy or name the Foundation as a recipient of a percentage of your estate – letting you enjoy your current life style and yet help the Foundation after you are gone.

The Society is comprised of a group of Masons and friends who, following in the footsteps of so many before them, have provided for the Foundation in their wills to help ensure the continued viability of the Foundation’s work in Maine. Since June 1, 1820, when the delegates of twenty-four Lodges assembled at Mason’s Hall in Portland and proceeded to organize the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Maine, the generosity of Maine Masons has strengthened communities in all parts of our state.
Now, through the Foundation, it is our privilege to carry forward the brotherhood and goodwill of those who have guided Maine Masonry through so many generations. Your gift of any amount to the Foundation in your will, trust, or as a beneficiary of a retirement account entitles you to membership in the Master Architect Society. You’ll receive special recognition including a plaque with your name to be permanently mounted on our MAS mural and an opportunity to join us for our annual reception.
